DESIGN FEATURES – STANDARD FEATURES FOR SYNFLO BALL VALVES

SYNFLO Ball valves provide simple, compact, economical solutions to the majority of flow control applications. These end entry valves offer important advantages, including quick turn operation, minimum pressure drop plus preloaded seats for positive, leak tight closure.

Following features are offered as STANDARD on all SYNFLO high performance Ball Valves.

INVESTMENT CASTINGS UP TO 4’’ (100 mm) SIZES

Investment Castings are standard for all Synflo Ball Valves, upto 4’’ (100 mm) size including Carbon Steel Ball Valves. High Quality Investment Castings are precision machined (CNC machined) for high degree of accuracy and inter changeability. This results in perfect quality valves that are engineered to perform.

CNC MACHINING UP TO 10’’ SIZES

All valve components including Valve Body, Side Connectors, Ball, Stem, Stem Sleeve and PTFE Seats are CNC machined for perfect accuracy and inter changeability. This ensures that more than 99.3% of valves that are assembled are cleared in our stringent quality tests at the very first instance. This superior performance is achieved only due to precision CNC Machining.

INTERCHANGEABILITY OF COMPONENTS

For inventory economy and convenience, all two piece and three piece valves have interchangeable internal parts. This also enhances prompt shipments from the factory. CNC machining enhances completely the use of interchangeable components in all Synflo Ball Valves.

LIVE LOADED STEM PACKINGS

Live Loaded Stem Packing assures reliable performance during the life cycle of the valve. A set of Belleville washers is standard on all Synflo Ball Valves (upto 2’’ size, except 1pc screwed end 15mm valve) to provide continuous compression to stem sealing elements and thus assures positive sealing in high cycle severe applications.

When a valve is cycled the packing around the stem wears. As the packing wears, the stress on the packing is reduced. If left unchecked, the valve will eventually leak. This becomes very apparent on high cycled valves. The normal method of overcoming this is frequent retightening of the stem nut. Live loading can alleviate this stress reduction and eliminate the need for constant retightening.

CORROSION PROTECTION

All Castings are shot blasted and subjected to de-watering oil coats. Carbon Steel Valves are Zinc Phosphated prior to assembly to avoid internal/external corrosion. Hence all Carbon Steel Valves are rust-free and this provides for much longer life and superior performance

STAINLESS STEEL LEVER FOR CARBON STEEL VALVES

Stainless Steel Levers are standard on all Synflo Ball Valves even for Carbon Steel Valves. Since valve stems in Carbon Steel Valves are of SS 304 material, use of Stainless Steel Lever ensures that it makes continuous direct contact with valve stem without causing play in the operation for the entire life of the valve.

On the contrary, use of MS Levers cause play in the valve operation (as MS is soft material compared to SS) within a short span of life .

BLOW-OUT PROOF STEM

All Synflo Ball valves have a bottom-entry “blow-out proof” stem design. An integral shoulder on the stem sits against the shoulder in the body, giving it blow-proof integrity. Thus, higher the line pressure, the tighter the seal.

DUAL PACKING SETS

Dual packing sets maximize seal integrity. The lower seat set is the first line of defense against leakage. The upper set is simultaneously adjusted by tightening the adjusting nut. This upper set backs up the lower set, and also cushions the lower set when subjected to high line temperatures. As line temperatures increase, the lower seal expands in its cavity. This expansion forces the stem shoulder downwards and the upper set cushions its movement.

ANTISTATIC FEATURE (OPTIONAL)

Constant rubbing of ball against PTFE seats causes static electricity build-up, which is a potential fire hazard, particularly while handling inflammable fluids. To provide electrical continuity, spring loaded plungers are provided between the stem and the ball for sizes 40 mm and above. For smaller sizes, this is achieved through 35% Carbon filled PTFE stem seals.

FIRE SAFE MACHINING

All valve bodies and side connectors are machined to provide secondary metal seat for sealing in the event of fire damaging the soft seats. This machining feature is available in all SYNFLO Ball Valves, irrespective of whether the seals and seats are fire safe compatible or not.
